Rove Demoted to 'The Accused'

(Keywords: politics, President Bush, Valerie Plame, potential future jailbirds )

A lot has been made of Karl Rove's 'demotion' in the White House hierarchy. At first, I thought it was just PR to satisfy people who thought Boy Genius needed a spanking. But things have happened to make me change my mind. It may be that Rove is going to need more spare time.

Truthout's Jason Leopold reports that a grand jury is to hear evidence against Rove. "The grand jury session in federal court in Washington, DC, sources close to the case said, was the first time this year that Fitzgerald told the jurors that he would soon present them with a list of criminal charges he intends to file against Rove in hopes of having the grand jury return a multi-count indictment against Rove," Leopold writes, "In an interview Wednesday, Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, confirmed that Rove remains a "subject" of Fitzgerald's two-year-old probe."

The reports of Turdblossom's 'demotion' mention that his portfolio has been reduced by half. They say that he'll now be free to concentrate on the mid-terms, but it's looking more like he'll be concentrating on his defense. This story breaks today, the demotion happened yesterday. I'm doubtful of coincidence.
